Disney’s upcoming film Million Dollar Arm and Elmhurst Historical Museum’s new exhibit Sox vs. Cubs: The Chicago Civil Wars center on the great American past-time of baseball, and both share an “opening day” on Friday, May 16.
In its new summer exhibit, EHM hits it out of the park highlighting the longtime rivalry between the fans of these two storied teams. This cultural history exposé covers all the bases of the crosstown rivalry to examine concepts of loyalty and fandom through videos of each team’s colorful supporters; interviews with former players, sports journalists and broadcasters; and fan souvenirs and ephemera. The Museum invites local veterans (who have served in any capacity) and their families for a special afternoon in their honor. Guided tours at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. will explore the “Our Lives, Our Stories” exhibit. Complimentary refreshments served in the Education Center.Learn more about this event
